Biography of Elizabeth “Margaret” Godson
I have spent my whole life around horses, they have been my greatest teachers!
I grew up in the Guelph, Ontario area learning to ride on livery horses from Bill Eastway. I got my first pony “Blackie” and joined the Pony Club when I was seven.
A couple of years later, my mother purchased our first horse and that was when I was introduced to dressage. I owe my secure seat and proper balance to Joseph Thauer, and his infamous lunge lessons, and to the many cross country (literally) rides in the Doon Bluffs.
My education soon broadened as I began showing junior hunter on the ‘A’ circuit riding Shenandoah, a 14.3h Palamino who had good form and was fearless. It was the summer of 1969 that played an enormous role in determining my future when I was introduced to Eventing at the Regional Rally and when I got the chance to ride in my first real hunter trials in England on my aunt’s steeplechaser, Boarder Basher.
I spent the rest of my teenage years eventing and showing jumpers, riding with Ed Rothcranz and Michael Gutowski. I was lucky enough to compete on the Ontario Young Riders Team on two occasions. A bad fall at the Canadian Championships prevented me from starting university that year. However, as one door closes, another one opens. That Christmas I was on my way to the Potomac Horse Center in Maryland as the Canadian Pony Club Scholarship winner. I have been teaching ever since.
Teaching riders and developing young horses has always been my passion. I have studied diligently over the years and have honed my perception of horses and riders’ energies. I’ve had the fortune to work with countless riders and horses of all abilities.
However, I found myself reaching a point with some riders and horses that was preventing them from improving or achieving their potentials that had nothing to due with their ability or knowledge. It was very frustrating watching years of effort being sabotaged by emotions.
I experienced a personal crisis when, at an emotional low point in my life, I had a heart attack. The lack of answers in the traditional medicine world sent me searching for answers. I have been learning from the Energy Medicine world through yoga, chakra healing, meditation, gigong and emotional freedom techniques for the last 7 years.
I was encouraged to pursue certifications so that I could use the knowledge and abilities that I possess to help others. So, in September 2012, I obtained my EFT Level 2 Practitioners Certification and in December 2013 I obtained my EFT Level 3 Practitioners Certification. I continue to study and learn more about EFT.
It is with compassion and integrity that I offer my gifts to you!
